I wonder if possibly, just POSSIBLY, his adoring followers will look at this and realize he DOES NOT have their best interests at heart and that they've been conned. Somehow, I doubt it. I see many of them being interviewed and they nearly go into a swoon when they speak of him and what a great president he is going to be -- and they wouldn't change their vote to save their soul.
And that soul just might be in jeopardy when they learn that many people close to them -- seniors who depend on Meals on Wheels for survival and children whose free lunch at school might be the only meal they have each day -- are going to be devastated by his ruthless budget cuts. But I'm sure their "big, beautiful wall" will be reward enough for them . . . and, of course, their wealthy friends will get their taxes cut.
I agree with Thom. It shouldn't be about big or small government, it should be about effective government. Government should be for all the people, not just the rich. Why do we need increased defense spending? Trump's budget is a disgrace.

Everyone says "Get out the vote." as though voting one way or another really matters. With the current 'hacking' technology as it is, THEY can and do make the (Diebold )voting machines say anything they want. That said, the only way I can see us poor folk making a difference without violence is to write all congressmen repeatedly to express our outrage. However, a problem with that approach is our lack of drive or our zeal to stand up. It looks like THEIR long term plan to dumb us down with the floride we've been ingesting and all these other chemicals THEY have been spraying for many years that we've been inhaling has worked, just as it did for Hitler.
Repubs want a return to feudalism.

"Federal Employees Health Benefits Program", or FEHBP for short. This is the health care system that was enacted in 1959 for ALL government employees. This is the system that now, ONLY the federal politicians have access to, all other government employees were removed by the Republicans years ago - you know, 'cost control'.
Well here we are - the millionaire politicians have free health care for themselves and their families thanks to the generous, grateful taxpayers, who are so appreciative of what the wonderful politicians do for us and the wellbeing of the Nation. (Couldn't resist the snark - sorry.)
The way I see it, they now have two choices;
One: open up this system to all Americans, or
Two: Provide Medicare for all, a single-payer system - nothing less will do. We MUST join the rest of the Industrialized Nations in providing health care for all humans who reside in this country - and, yes, as all these other nations do, provide this health care for every person, citizens AND visitors, both legal and illegal. (Time to accept world responsibility as all other countries do.)

Donald Trump is making his mark on America: an increase in hate crimes, cabinet appointments that will ensure this white nationalist movement gets enshrined in new legislation,and personal behavior that breaks new boundaries in government ethics. I keep reading articles about things Donald Trump can't possibly do and yet is doing. Conducting his businesses and actually promoting them in full view during the transition; tweeting incessantly about his critics, including New York Times reporters; taking credit for a factory not moving to Mexico despite the blatant falsity of any role he he has played. And all these articles about Donald Trump's ethics (and as an ultius expert I've read a lot), white nationalist plans, mixing of business with the office of the presidency,and promises to roll back every single piece of legislation passed under President Obama--nobody ever mentions who will be able to stop him even if he is verging on the unlawful. The country has elected a demagogue, a strong man, a man who promises to be the president of all the people while surrounded himself with White supremacy ideologue. I'm not sure this is what many voters had in mind when they decided to vote for change at the expense of decency.

Single- payer is all we can afford .... thanks to Reagan's trickle down the working class no longer has the extra billions to enrich for profit insurance executives who have nothing to do with actual healthcare services. The rest of the world is right, we are wrong. Any politician speaking out for single -payer is sure to quickly become a champion of the people...the time will never be more right than it is now.
Rubio is a self- serving imbecile just like Ryan.... it's all going to end just as bad for them as it it for the rest of us...if that's any consolation.

has anyone noticed that thom hartmann's posts are a cut above the rest of what we are seeing in mainstream media? there is plenty of anti-administration media out there but thom articulates the issues with sufficient context to allow the reader to actually connect the dots. the marco rubio wrinkle to the aca is a perfect example. my question is how do we get this out to a broader audience? we aren't going to get the right people in office next time around unless we smarten up the average american voter (both sides of the aisle need help).
Now the ball is in their court. Republican Care is doomed to failure. It eliminated revenue from the 1% (plus medical device tax and tanning salon tax). It raises costs by allowing CEO's and upper management to make unlimited amounts of money and call it a business expense. Its individual mandate penalty is low enough that healthy young people will not pay for the expensive insurance that it offers. Who gets screwed? 50 to 65 year old Trump voters and Red States.
I suggest Google medical tourism if you need medical care. Other countries have better and affordable medical care.
