I would like to point out to Combad57 a VAT looks like a tariff but it isn't. It is a regressive tax, but most importantly it does nothing to protect jobs. A caller from Great Britain called into Thom and pointed this out. Thom agreed with him. I could give you a simple little example to demonstrate, but probably no one is reading this. It would be better if you did the simple example for yourself. Cheap labor with a VAT will still get the work.
Just ask and I will provide the example.

Suppose the school shooters or whoever killed the sheriffs had not had the weapon (gun) that they did. Would they have then just said, oh well, I don't have an AR, so I guess I won't go through with it? I don't think so. They would have found some other means to follow through with their intent.
Because our schools now allow bullying to take place, and forbid those who are being bullied to fight back or defend themselves, it's not hard to figure out that those being bullied will reach a snapping point somewhere and come roaring back. Not having an AR15 certainly won't stop them. They will find some other means, like building a bomb. We seem to think that by banning a particular type of gun that that's going to solve the problem of someone going in to shoot up a place. That's pure lunacy and totally hiding our head in the sand as to what the real problems are.
We become just like doctors - treating the symptoms, not the cause.
As you say, "there is no such thing as a free market." Someone please show me one "free market" that doesn't exist for someone to make a profit. They should simply be called markets since a "free market " is a self contradictory term. Barter could conceivably be called a free market but conservatives probably wouldn't be interested in anything that couldn't give them a chance to scratch up a few more bucks.
Well said.....and they don't want to "think about the purpose of the original Bill Of Rights... these amendments were all restrictions on FEDERAL power..."so while the 2nd amendment acknowledges the article 1 ability to regulate the militias, the bill of rights gets right to the main point..... to set the LIMITS on that regulation by clearly pronouncing the Right of the people to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT be Infringed.....

Regulating guns can be justified by the protecting the general welfare of US citizens clause of the US constitution.
Here is a fact supporting Thom's stance on trade. The U.S. has at last count 141 trading partners worldwide. All of those 141 have a VAT (value added tax) on imports. The U.S. does not, thanks to the globalists' sway over our legisltors.
For instance, Germany's VAT is on average 19.6%. Note that Germany has a near balance of trade or only a slight deficit despite being a high cost producer.
I'm quite sure Trump is totally unaware of this fact. Neverthe less, he's right that China is eating our lunch on trade. We are the world's suckers.

Mega War this time around won't end with a hasty cremation of the evil soul outside of a Berlin bunker. Oh it's the same evil alright, but unlike the circumstances in 1945, the evil we now face will take us all down with it. Humanity never learns from the growing pains of war. We seem stuck in an adolescent stage of hyper testosterone and greed. I'm beginning to think anyone thirsting for power of any kind is mentally ill.
The containment of war to a biblical lands city where young kids lay blown to pieces with parents out of their minds with unimaginable pain, and wondering who could possibly be this evil, will not be neatly swept under the global media carpet this time. The innocent are always the vast majority of victims in a rich mans war for profit, and I'm certain we are bound to pay for allowing this evil....pay for it on our soil.
I can't tell you why I think this, it's just a strong heart felt feeling I've had since our electoral firewall let us all down. I don't believe in ghosts, take meds, or play with my poop, maybe it's just an awareness of military history and a subliminal backlash to the horrors of that knowlege.

I think Russia and China are planning to gang up on us to consolidate their power. Therefore it seems to me that Trump is trying to strenthen our Millitary, secure our energy & steel resources and make us as independent from China as possible in the shortest amount of time possible in case that happens. He also is attacking China's financial power, and countering Russia in Syria, while costing them resources, as happened in Afganistan. Look around your house what isn't made in China???
I don't think he's against alt. energy sources...but I don't think he belives we could survive on them alone therefore his stand on coal and oil.
I sure wish he would use the money to shore up the electrical grid in case of emp attack!
All this with the Dems and fake repubs, fighting him tooth and nail.
