Wielding ultimate power over others is the ultimate ego trip, and Trump is 100% ego -- a malignant narcissist incapable of identifying with the pains and struggles of those less privileged, especially of an ethnicity other than stupid fcking white man.
In that regard, apart from being an exceptional dullard, he is no different than every other two-bit tyrant populating the bloodstained pages of the history of Western civilization's ruthless expansion into "savage" lands and the ensuing genocide against indigenous people who refused to submit to systemic racism, unadulterated greed, and the white power structure of the time.
Trump checks off all the boxes. It's no wonder a portrait of Old Hickory hangs proudly in "his" Oval Office, an inspiration to white-trash bigots everywhere that this land is their land, period.
You too could become president -- the ultimate power trip. If you had a rich, racist daddy with no scruples who groomed you how to lie, cheat, and steal your way to the top, you too could have all the "losers" and "suckers" kiss your ass. That means every other human being on planet Earth who is not his excellency Donald J. Trump, "the chosen one."
Today Trump, along with Dr. Atlas, held a presser that was right out Roy Cohn's playbook. You simply declare victory and walk away leaving everyone else to argue. It centered around claims of a vaccine by election day. But then 2 minutes later he was saying well maybe there will be one by then. He just keeps contradicting his own statements and tells the reporters they are the ones that have a problem.
As for Dr. Atlas, if 78 of my colleagues wrote this about my recent work, I sure as the hell would wonder what I'm doing wrong: "falsehoods and misrepresentations of science" that "run counter to established science".
Atlas will pay for being subservient to an idiot. Dr. Redfield did today...Trump called him "confused". How can these world renowned doctors even stand next to him? Do Fauci, Birx, and Redfield stay for the American people? They absolutely know he is a sociopath, and that means they are objects to him not people.
Well, we know “Herd Mentality” is not the answer. “Herd Mentality” is how Trump became president in the first place.
Again, I still think he’s trying to make the pandemic worse and use it as part of his strategy to stir up chaos and turmoil for the purpose of suspending or canceling the election, declaring marshal law or what ever term they make-up to justify making Trump president for life. Otherwise, he will go to prison, and that is a reality he will do anything to avoid.
The Woodward tapes prove that he has a clear understanding of the dangers of the virus, therefore he must have an ulterior motive for all his crazy actions. Remember he didn’t really plan to be president, but now that he is, the power has gone to his head and at the same time exposed him to accountability by accelerating the machinations of justice that he has previously been able to out run.
There is no way out!

I think the lack of effort to change or even talk about change during the Clinton and Obama admins led to the undestandable distrust by the left. When the candidate you helped elect, ignores your efforts and leaves all the corrupt officials in place, it puts people off about the effectiveness of elections. We also watched two Democratic canidiates win the presidency but not take office....maybe three, Gore, Kerry, Clinton. For 20 years, nothing was done to insure elections weren't hackable.
I have never called the occupent of the Whire House, President. I cringed when everyone referred to him by that title. Trump happened because the Democrats always fear hurting the feelings of the monsters destroying our country now.

Remember last winter when Australia had record forest fires. Maybe there is a link. Or maybe they do not rake their leaves like California.
I know the progressives do not embrace religion but you have to admit, God must be terribly pissed at the Left Coast.

If you begin to reason how this will all turn out just vision that the middle class and poverty disappear due to a crisis such as we have and lose of means to survive due to no jobs or jobs that pay next to nothing it will not matter if the tax rate is low. There will be no taxes collected. Then what will the wealthy steal.
If the population become so indoctrinated with an oligarchy system of government and the power of the wealthy becomes so soft that another regime is likely to step in and take over...i.e. China, Russia. When men in our so called Democracy tout arming ourselves against the people who are coming if the election does not turn out in favor of the incumbent president is allowed to spout this retoric; we as a Democracy are in trouble. I wonder if push comes to shove, will our military side with the right side of our freedom
It might actually be nice for just one week of not mentioning the name Donald Trump on the news and see what happens. I know for one, it would be a nice silence from all of the brovado that escapes from his mouth daily and hourly.
Just a quick note on the New Deal and FDR....credit should go to Secretary Frances Perkins, Eleanor, and Secretary Harold Ickes for much of the progress. They really had to push him.
Then came the Cold War, and we still have not shed the old paradigm of fearing Communism and Socialism.
Then came 9/11 and more fear with a capital F.
Now we are facing climate change, a major health crisis and lack of care, and a madman with a cult following.
The computer age will continue to usher in the solutions. Science and data will help us get to some level we can tolerate and then possibly mitigate some of the loss. But and there is always a but, neither data or science work without the TRUTH. Could it be that the world's greatest liar will help us find our way without meaning to? Remember, remember the 3rd of November!

I warn you, it is depressing. I had wondered why Clinton and Obama didn’t try to do more in their first 2 years (when they had the House and Senate)...now I think I know.
A major change in course is certainly needed and soon.
The needed changes are going to face incredible headwinds because we have a constitutional system built on several points of exploitation that are not consistent with climate challenges, a major shift in demographics, and a multipolar world.
If the country is going to remain intact, some major changes are needed. Elections of a king (president) need to be replaced with a more democratic executive system, a dysfunctional legislative chamber due to overrepresentation of small population segments needs adjustment, and the unrestrained power of a judiciary appointed for life needs to face term limits.
It will take the two generations coming into power to make it happen. There are signs of hope but the scope of needed changes may not yet be clear to most.
The less the middle class the more chances for a collapse (and a loud one).
I think that Andrew Yang is one of the people who has analyzed the fiscal strategy of the last 40 years and has argueg convicingly that it is high tike for trickle up economics. Otherwise we will continue falling down.
