I was under the impression that this 2016 election was the first really unconstitutional election filled with everything the Corrupt Corporation Republicans could muster! Looks like I was completely in the dark on how bad they could get. I see the next election getting worse.
And it only took 40 years for about half of the people to wake up and see they are thieves. They worship, and do the evil of the rich. They suppress voters. The Democrats aren't angles either, they suck up to the corporations too - to a lesser extent (to wich they will owe them favors). But they still kind of care about the voters. So you vote for the lesser evil. (The green party will not win because it still has no strength.) Can't wait for the next 40 years for the rest of the people to wake up and see they've been ripped off. Oh, wait, I'll be already dead.

Diane, I am sure that Donald stays awake a night worrying about your 401K. "You're so vain." Actually, it's a surprise that anyone in the Whitie House gets any sleep with the stench that is everpresent in the oval office these days.

I have no problem with property rights of which, capitalism is one expression. What is obscene, it seems to me, is that by incremental democratic process over the past 40 some years "We the People" have for one, allowed a few to gain absolute control over the communications megaphone. Now in control of the medium these few, shaping the message and collective thought to their super minority ends.
Responding to their anti-regulatory, anti-tax message, the message of the #billionaireclass expressed through their republican minions "We" have permitted restraint against irresponsible corporate behavior as well as the tax obligation of real and for the moment corporate persons to be reduced to almost negligible or one might even say negligent propotions.
The upshot being that while we live seemingly free, free to dress as we please, to associate with whom we please, to speak our minds, to travel; when viewed through an economic frame I ask, who is free that must labor sun up to sun down for compensation that bears no reflection to fair share of the wealth of our individual and collective labors, the volume of wealth we have produced? The answer is no one.
When viewed through this economic frame I ask further, how is our present reality any different from that of the worker of 250 years ago, the pre-revolutionary worker? It isn't; only the labels have changed. The masses labor to the benefit of a few.
For the first 150 years or so following the American Revolution, little changed. Then came the final insult, the crash of 29. Finally, Americans expressed the truly revolutionary promise of our revolution that in throwing off the shackles of monarchy "We the People" unlike the past wherein the only response to tyranny was violence, "We", the masses were now able to assure each could access or build a path to accessing fair share of the wealth of our labor; the vehicle, democratic process. By democratic process, we could insure that the apex alpha class of our society paid tax in proportion to their wealth, income and profits.
That my friends is the truly revolutionary outcome of our revolution, the masses for the first time in history could tax the property owner, thereby maintain the greatest portion of wealth in circulation and accessible. This reality is obscured in the question polled here and is moot when and if the the "People" exercise their democratic authority "...to promote the general Welfare".

The democrats just missed their opportunity. The US Senate voted on a "single payer:" amendment Thursday night. Not one democrat voted for the amendment. That's right, NOT ONE. Could someone please explain.

Interesting. I though that the cost of the medical treatments to control hormones and to get plastic surgery needed to change sex would have been higher than you mention here. What's more, it's surprising that the military spends so much in Viagra.
There's an additional cost that you don't mention. There is the cost of separation in the barracks. Right now they have separate facilities for men and women. Having people with all kinds of sexual preferences and behavior would also require some kind of separation to eliminate friction between soldiers.
When I was in the military, there were homosexuals among the troops. Not many but they were there but they behaved more or less like the rest of the guys so there was very little, if any, friction. Today, I don't know if that would be true since some homosexuals and others like to dramatize and to rub their preferences on other people's faces. I think it would be difficult sharing the barracks with people like that.
The most chocking thing I saw in the service were two marines eating each other up in a bar. It surprise me because they were very open about it when they were in their civies about town but it was not obvious when they were in uniform.
With TrumpWealthCare going down in flames His Orangness' snowflake ego needed a massage. He also needed some red meat to throw to the rabid right base . That, and all else said, trying to fathom the dark depths of his miind is a fools errand.

I do not hold out for any justice from the 6 to 3 corrupt republican supreme court.
The biggest reason is to provide a smoke screen to prevent any media coverage of the questioning of Steve Brannon about Russian gate.

If what I read is correct, the Generals that Drumph "Consulted" were caught totally off guard by this announcment, and none said they had been consulted. They learned about it at the same time as the rest of us. Perhaps Drumph consulted the Generals "In his Dreams". Perhaps he thought we wouldn't notice due to "LIE FATIGUE"!
I read somewhere that his golfing escapades, to Mar-a-Laga alone, cost the taxpayers more than having transgender in the military cost.
Most likely, the more he points his fingers, blames others, and discriminates is directly proportional to how unhappy his is with himself, his success or lack thereof, and his surroundings.

The piece in Politco is persuasive, but it might simple be that Trump wants to pacify a base up in arms over Trump's treatment of Jeff Sessions, or it may be the usual: Trump just wants attention and being outrageous is one way to obtain it. The biggest news here is not news at all. Trump belief in his own greatness allows thim to sacrifice any individual or princle to that greatness.
