Finally, the outbreak of Ebola, along with human enterovirus, west nile virus and a host of others, I strongly believe have much to do with climate change. As a native American, I realized early in my life that this nation was on a long and dangerous path to the imbalance of nature. But who would listened any of us any way? Initially the European brought us all your diseases to rid us of the America's only to proclaim the America's "were found". Maybe there is such a thing as karma. You are just beginning to see the result of your greed, hate and disrespect!
Absolutely! This isn't about being an alarmist, its about a virulent virus with the potential to be another epidemic similar to the Spanish flu of 1918. Any of you who do not understand virus' should read some academic material in microbiology. I was in the initial battle of the HIV epidemic in the early 80's. Saw many friends and people die. At the time, there wasn't enough information on how the virus was transmitted yet understood. When the nature of the virus was understood. transmission of bodily fluids by direct contact or blood. As time progressed, the HIV virus was far less virulent then the Ebola virus. Why? As a person involved in hospice care, I never worried if someone sneezed or coughed unless there was blood but even then it was by direct contact or transmission into my system. The HIV virus didn't live long outside the host like the Ebola virus. The chances of getting HIV from someone by kissing is probably less than 1% unlike the Ebola virus where you can get if the person is contagious by touching the fluids of a person and breathing in the potential virus. I believe the government, CDC, NH and those leading physicians are down playing how dangerous and lethal this virus is. In all my years of dealing with AIDS patients, never did I have to wear a HAZMAT suit and over my with face and head with the top of the line goggles and head gear. And even bleach all the clothing of those ill. Never.
I believe many of you are taking this all to lightly.
Ebola transcends all party lines, ideology, classes, genders, religions, and national borders. It's now in America because of absolute stupidity by the Obama Regime. No one should have ever been allowed to enter this country from any nation infected with Ebola. Any treatment facilities or vaccines could have just as easily been transfered there. By allowing Ebola infected patients into America (or into Europe for that matter), the West has committed more than a monumental folly. It may have committed suicide. Any deaths as a result on Ebola in the West fall directly on the head of the their national leadership; plain and simple.

Malnutrition is an epidemic in the US with 3 million children living in food deprived house holds. 2000 to 3000 elder die each year from malnutrition, according to a livestrong article.
Normally, when the government pushes the media to create a distraction for the public like Ebola; a citizenry should look, very close, at what legislation is being considered in congress at the same time.

Aphrodite ~ In my opinion 'treason' is allowed in this country because We The People voted to make it legal when we let Tricky Dick walk out of office with a presidential pardon from his own Vice President. That set a nasty precedent that 'some people' were above the law. Since then all manner of malfeasances has been committed in that high office with complete impunity. This sets up the vast stage we have today where anyone with "politically correct" blessing from the mainstream media establishment can get away literally with murder. We have dug ourselves a deep hole in this country and the only way out of it is to start holding our highest elected officials fully accountable for their actions. It's too late with Tricky Dick and Reagan; however, there is nothing stopping us from going after G W Bush, Dick Cheney, and Barack Obama. Until these war criminals stand trial for their horrific deeds there is no hope of ever dealing with the small fry; and, that is exactly what Limpballs is. For he, as well as the big fish, are all protected under the awnings of the same umbrella.
Republican obstructionism is the biggest problem, not only for the country but the rest of the world too. The ecological status of the planet has reached, and even gone beyond sustainability, while the idoligical Congress twiddles their thumbs. And the're worried about the nation debt being left to their children? See what good their money will do when there is no water to drink or air to breath.
Limbaugh's comment...actually more like a screamed pronouncement...that Obama is purposely bringing ebola to the US in order to kill white people is beyond the pale. I hope that the rest of his sponsors drop him over this. And I hope someone realizes that comments like that are designed to undermine our government and destroy our President...and that is tantamount to treason.
You know what I think is a much bigger danger than ebola? And not just to the US but to the world? The thought of Republicans taking control of Congress in November. That scares me, ebola doesn't.
Palindromedary ~ If they really want to reduce the population in Africa, why don't they just voluntarily hand out birth control pills and condoms? It seems to me the cost would be about the same and there would be no suffering and loss. Although, it would make sense if they wanted to perfect a new weapon. Again, the military industrial complex demonstrates why it has to go.

So what you are all suggesting is that the GOP isn't merely playing a deadly game of obstructionism at the expense of all the people, what they are actually doing is intentional genocide for the powers that be--aka the 1%? That is a mighty serious allegation and as such, deserves much attention. Even if unproven, such an allegation could easily be used to force a change in the behavior of the Party of No. Once the formal accusation is made, any further hesitation to alter behavior indicates complete complicity. Certainly a most worthy course of action in the matter of national health care--especially if served up with the heaping helping of the threat of lengthy prison time; or, even, execution for high treason. Certainly worth a shot. Much more meaningful than a bunch of empty words.
Congressman Sessions comments were truly unfortunate and inappropriate. However, as Americans we should endeavor to set our differences (and in some cases outright hatred) aside and take a close look at the nature of the risks facing this country together. In this writers opinion the first step in reducing the risk of the spread of Ebola in the USA would be to stem the influx of illegal aliens across our borders and enact travel restrictions to places in the world known to have high numbers of Ebola cases. Everyone must be aware that it is not only Mexican "dreamers" entering our country illegally across its borders. It seems to this writer that these actions are "no-brainers". President Obama has used his telephone and pen to do as he pleases in the past. Surely he can take these steps to protect us and our treasured children. Bringing the NRA into this discussion is superfluous and needlessly inflammatory. It adds nothing of substance. The NRA is not to blame for a single case of Ebola anywhere nor are they remotely responsible for the gun related violence perpetrated by criminals illegally in possession of firearms in this country. If indeed we did have a sitting Attorney General I would only hope that he would have the wisdom and courage to recommend the most obvious and expedient actions to stem the influx of the Ebola virus into our country. When will we resume the practice of treating one another as countrymen and using our heads when considering the grave issues facing our nation?

The biggest threat from Ebola is the paranoia and panic that is being generated; people will be discriminated against, injured, or even killed, just because they're suspected of having Ebola. In the United States, you're more likely to contract Typhoid or Cholerea (both potentially lethal diseases) than Ebola, but the fear mongers are fanning the flames of the current fear-du-jour. It's really sad what lengths these people will go to; and Rush Scumbaugh's statement is the worst.
These days, it seems, humanity pursues, and even embraces, the REAL Four Horsemen Of The Apocolypse: Arrogance, Greed, Paranoia, and Hatred.

i would like to make a point about worsts and add Battelle or better yet the executive board of Battelle to be a much bigger evil. you are obviousily unaware about how the conduit between public and private funding for drug research is controlled by this non profit research institute. Battelle is that transfer agent. The board controls were the money goes and who gets it. Having The OHIO STATE UNVERSITY accross the street ensures a steady flow of young minds to tackle the worlds problems. Rand/Darpa/OSU/Lockheed/NWO/BATTELLE. This system is closed and all about PROFIT

Causing the deaths of thousands does not worry Republicans. The top 1% would be happy to see the herd of humanity reduced. Lets face it, there are too many of us humans on the earth already and with less of us around, life would be better for those that count (the wealthy of the world). If the earth's population was cut by 35%, they would appauld a job well done.
Having just heard Sam Harris speak at Philadelphia's central library this evening, including his taking a question about Ben Affleck's attack on him, of course I had to find a video so I could judge it for myself. This led me to agree with Harris's stated suspicion that Affleck was "poisoned" against him ahead of time so that he didn't understand his true position. The essence of the problem is that he didn't understand Islam, as Harris is using the term, refers to an ideology, not a group of people. In fact he explicitly stated that he wants to help Muslims reform their religion, and didn't even mention the idea of trying to make them atheists like himself. But you can't very well reform a religion while at the same time pretending there are no problems with its doctrine. It should be added Harris says Affleck was a lot friendlier with him after the show and seemed to somewhat moderate his view of Harris after getting to hear what he actually thinks in more depth.
Just imagine the mass outbreak that could easily occur because of one or two people who get infected and hesitate for few days to seek treatment because they can neither afford to see a Doctor, or to take the time off from work. They might wait until they are too sick to get out of bed; and, if they work in something like Walmart or the fast food industry, they might have infected hundreds of unknown people before they ever get diagnosed. If and when they eventually get checked that number could easily expand exponentially. This Republican madness could easily cause the deaths of thousands of innocents; and, further destroy our economy and way of life in the process. It needs to end now! Please, vote these imbeciles out of office!
Because of rick perry's inaction, millions of Texans remain uninsured and they have to go to emergency rooms for care. This gentleman who returned from Liberia with Ebola is a good example of the results of an overcrowded ER. If this gentleman dies, rick perry should be charged with murder. Damn douchenozzle neotard.

While I am really not at all concerned about ebola spreading wildly in the U.S., I am very concerned about this new, mysterious polio-like disease that is affecting our children. And affecting them fast. And I do understand how the Republicans in power feel about that...they don't care. They don't care about anything or anyone other than their owners and themselves. They love power and the ultimate power of life or death over the "little people" is like a drug to them. The more they think they are discrediting our President by denying the People their governmental representatives...judges, ambassadors, the Surgeon General, the more powerful they feel. They claim to be pro-life, but they worship death as long as the death is someone elses. Frankly they disgust me in more ways than I can even count!
I'd just like to add that were profits not the main objective of our healthcare system, these geniuses would have figured out how to access everyone's vital health info quickly and easily, while keeping it confidential. It just wasn't a big enough priority.
