“If you want to run a campaign based on reparations and concentration camps, then it's going to be very hard to win the election, I'm not saying you can't do it, I’m not saying you can’t do it, but very hard to argue that this is helping," Maher said to a smattering of applause from the studio audience. After liberal radio talk show host Thom Hartmann dismissed the backlash against Ocasio-Cortez, pointing instead to Trump accusing the New York Times of treason, which he said "is punishable by death," Maher pushed back with disbelief.
What worked during the Obama administration may not work now.
In May 2018, the Donald Trump administration withdrew the United States from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran, popularly known as the Iran nuclear deal.
The U.S. then ramped up sanctions on the Iranian theocracy to try to ensure that it stopped nuclear enrichment. The Trump administration also hoped a strapped Iran would become less capable of funding terrorist operations in the Middle East and beyond, proxy wars in the Persian Gulf, and the opportune harassment of ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The sanctions are clearly destroying an already weak Iranian economy. Iran is now suffering from negative economic growth, massive unemployment, and record inflation.
A desperate Iranian government is using surrogates to send missiles into Saudi Arabia while its forces attack ships in the Gulf of Oman.
The Iranian theocrats despise the Trump administration. They yearn for the good old days of the Obama administration, when the U.S. agreed to a nuclear deal that all but guaranteed future Iranian nuclear proliferation, ignored Iranian terrorism and sent hundreds of millions of dollars in shakedown payments to the Iranian regime.
Ha! You feces-flinging monkeys sure are a barrel of laughs that keeps on giving. Thanks for the easy opening this morning:
"Who me? What war? Move on, folks; nothing to see here."
My, my, Trump's wild-eyed trolls sure are hopped up on winger-juice this morning, aren't they? What, did Fux "News" and far-right fake-news in Trumplandia pop your little corks yesterday?
Bring it! Your idiotic posts really are comical if not so pathetic.
Get real! The only reason your fake president did not start an insane shooting war with Iran is because of universal freak-out by our allies and virtually everyone in our country, including Congress critters. The representatives of the People (supposedly), despite their huge differences on other issues, do know in their collective hearts and minds that we and the world are dealing with an unhinged madman with his finger on a hair trigger, who ain't too bright and who certainly can't be taken at his word.
Incessant lying has its price.
That, and the high probability that once all the data is analyzed objectively by independent arbiters, the unmanned drone likely wandered into Iranian airspace. Ooohhh -- egg on the face! (BTW, Trump called regular airplanes "manned drones." LMAO, you just can't make this stuff up.)
Was that accidental or intentional? Even if it didn't cross the line, why the hell was a $176 million-dollar drone (on the taxpayers' dime) flying so damn close to the edge, anyway, where the chance for human error and electronic miscalculation on both sides is extremely high.
It's a fool's gambit. It's called the "buildup to war." It's called "provoking a war." It's a very dangerous game with very high stakes indeed. It's how major conflicts begin. And it has zero support, other than by the extreme war-hawks embedded in his cabinet. John Bolton comes to mind, naturally, which begs the question of why Goofy even hired such a warmongering fool in the first place.
Great minds think alike ...and so do foolish minds.
The simpleton, which you particular major, MAGA fools haunting these pages seemingly worship more than Jesus H. Christ himself, has only one basic strategy: create a fake problem and then fake-proclaim that either you have already fake-solved it or secretly know how to fake-solve it ...ah, someday in a fake future that doesn't exist.
As you might have guessed, "fake" is the key operating word these days, which King Trump The Faker unconsciously projects onto anyone who calls out his bullsh*t.
"Trust me. I have a little piece of paper hidden in my pocket somewhere that is 'evidence' of my 'superior' negotiation and people skills. Oh yeah, and I have a wall to sell you, too."
Making moves and then pulling them back is the same lame "chess move" he's made on virtually every notable issue to date. Checkers is probably more his speed, and even that's in doubt. Think about it; he doesn't even know how to close an umbrella before entering the door of Air Force One, for gods sake!
The list of his follies is long, including but not limited to: tax giveaways for his billionaire buddies (first and foremost), grabbing power like a king, the Justice Department, healthcare, education, infrastructure, jobs, immigration, tariffs, NAFTA, NATO, the Paris Agreement, Venezuela, Guatemala, Hondorus, El Salvidor, Mexico, Russia ("if you're listening"), China, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Iraq, Afganistan, and, of course, Iran -- a country, besides Mexico full of brown people, that really riles up his stubborn base of bigots.
And the illiterate fools who clog up Thom's Blog with their uninformed, wing-nut garbage are even dumber and more naive than Trump the Immature -- their tinhorn demagogue. Is that even possible?
Impeach the stupid sonofabitch before he really does start World War Three!
I happen to have a friend who worked on the original climate change research back in the early 1990s. It was commissioned by the Pentagon to find what the weather would be like in coming years where they wanted to put military bases. Similarly the Pentagon also commissioned a study which was published in 2003 on a coming mini ice age. NASA began studying the effects of solar minimums in the 1989 and they are learning more. We are in a solar minimum now. Keep a winter coat around for summer.
If you want to end human caused global warming ban humans.
The larger cause of the epidemic of homelessness in the United States is politics on a national scale during the last several decades, whereby Republicans -- and the corporate Democrats who enable them! -- have handed over our economy, in effect, to the tender mercies of ruthless greedmongers. Their victims, of course, are then kicked to the curb and forgotten, including military veterans by the thousands, while our overly privileged Masters of the Universe incessantly and successfully lobby Congress to radically cut their fair share of taxes. As a direct result of this out-of-control cronyism and sellout, individual states have less help from the Federal Government to deal with the underlying reasons for the homeless plight.
>>>Meanwhile<<< ...back to an even larger problem (also caused by Republican intransigence and corruption in their mad pursuit to please their filthy-rich donor class at the expense of the little people), the looming climate catastrophe is threatening the future of everything, let alone the world's economies.
Michael Mann, the Director of the Earth System Science Center (ESSC), told Salon via email that Boaty’s findings are important, and point to an important connection, but that many small-scale processes relevant to tidal mixing are not generally represented in ocean general circulation models.
“So the point that the processes in question are missing from current climate models is really a by-product of the fact that many sub-grid scale mixing processes are missing from those models,” Mann said. “With regard to this larger point, this finding is a concern because it points to one of the reasons that the models have underestimated the rate of ice sheet disintegration.”
Mann added that critics often claim that climate scientists are “alarmist and have overstated the risks.”
“But the reality is—and this is a case in point—that if anything, we have underestimated key risks like sea level rise because our models were missing processes that can actually lead to a faster rate of ice loss and sea level rise,” Mann said. “The take-home point is that uncertainty exists—but it is not our friend. As we continue to resolve key uncertainties, we’re learning that bad things can happen faster than we had originally predicted.”

Coalage3 you are right on. I turned on the computer this morning and heard about Trump's move. It will be fun listening to the leftie/socialists try and turn his comments about avoiding conflict into something negative. Rest assured they will.
As far as the democrat clown car, this will be nothing but pure entertainment. They are already throwing knives at cancer curing creepy Uncle Joe Biden who has only held five jobs in his lifetime,
Good Friday HotCoffee, I did not know Kimberly Guilfoyle was Newsome's ex-wife. That explains a lot of your governor's stupid comments
As far as the West Coast rebelling against the leftie/socialists? Lot's of luck. The moneyed and corporations are moving out for lower tax states. The sad part, they, for the most part, drag the politics with them and are too stupid to understand why they moved out in the first place. Seattle and Portland have become wastelands filled with homeless and freeloaders. CO & MN are moving in that direction and we need not address the utter stupidity of the governor of NY and mayor big bird of NYC.
The Iran story is interesting. Not being one who gives two thoughts about the Mid-East, I was interested as to how President Trump was going to navigate through this morass. I believe Iran is provoking a war because they are inches away from the people revolting against the Mullahs that have ruined that society. A war with anybody would cement their control over that country for years. I am glad President Trump at the last minute asked "how many people will this strike kill" and then decide the response was not appropriate. I am sure there is much more inside info that we will never know but let the uninformed speculate. I may even tune in Hatrmann today just to hear how he can turn this great move on President Trump's part into another "lets all hate on Trump" rant. About ten minutes in I suspect and it's back to Limbaugh or a local podcast for entertainment.
BTW Pam Geller is one tough cookie. I love her spunk.
Since it was the democrats who pushed slave ownership, would it be a great idea to have president Trump sign an executive order requiring all democrats to start paying the reparations those idiot congress critters in DC were demanding yesterday?
One more thing. just for giggles, look up the relationship between Nancy Pelosi and your current Governor.
What war are you talking about? Please be specific. I watched the news this morning. It was CNN so I'm not sure if it was real or fake. They say Iran shot down a drone and everybody expects us to retaliate somehow. Okay, so where is the retaliation? Where is the war you are talking about? I saw Trump actually making an excuse for them by claiming it might have been a mistake on Iran's part.
The only war going on right now that I see is among the 500+ democratic candidates for president. Now that's a real fight.

Or at least tell the infestation of humans to shut up and go sit in the corner until they agree to do their homework.
And let's not forget that Exxon Mobile buried their own scientists' dire warnings about global warming back in the 70s.
I like your irony, captbebops, even though we evidently have disagreements about the science of diet and climate change.

Go, Boaty McBoatface!
Beloved submarine Boaty McBoatface makes a big scientific find.
The autonomous yellow submarine is making waves in climate science.

Thursday it is HotCoffee. Summer in full bloom.
Looks like the mayor of one of your once great cities has some splanin' to do. It appears the fine city of LA has a bit of a homeless problem. Up 16% over the last year alone. Not living in CA I am appreciative of your leftie/socialist policies because they tend to attract this sort of problem but as you know, all the larger cities up the west coast all the way to WA have fallen and are rapidly becoming third world like.
Never fear, on the East Coast not to be undone by CA,
ALBANY — New York is about to allow undocumented immigrants to apply for driver's licenses, reversing a policy that prohibited the practice since 2002.
The state Senate approved a bill making the change Monday, less than a week after the Assembly did the same.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the measure into law late Monday night, which launched a six-month waiting period before immigrants without legal status can apply for a learner's permit.
Since it was the democrats who pushed slave ownership, would it be a great idea to have president Trump sign an executive order requiring all democrats to start paying the reparations those idiot congress critters in DC were demanding yesterday?
