Do you know who Elizabeth Duke is? How about Donald Kohn or Kevin Warsh? No? Well - you should. Because while Congress was debating back in 2008 whether or not to bailout Banksters with a $700 billion blank check - these guys and girls were just doing it. They were funneling $7.7 trillion to Wall Street under the table - without one constituent phone call - without worrying about one election - without having to give one explanation.

Hartmann: Should Walker get the movers at the WI state capitol on speed dial?

John Nichols, The Nation Magazine, joins Thom Hartmann. Democrats in Wisconsin are half-way to the finish line and this is one race that Governor Walker and the state's Republicans wish they had never started. According to groups leading the way - United Wisconsin and the Recall Walker Committee - more than 270000 signatures have already been collected in the Badger state - meaning organizers are halfway to collecting the 540000 signatures necessary to trigger a recall election. Several polls in Wisconsin reveal growing majorities supporting the recall effort - including a poll from Wisconsin Public Radio showing those in favor of recalling Walker up nine points since the spring to 58%

Hartmann: The Good, The Bad, And The Very Very Lagotically Ugly

The Good! Federal Judge Jed Rakoff. Today - Judge Rakoff nixed a $285 million settlement deal between mega bank Citigroup and the Securities and Exchange Commission - arguing that letting Citigroup just write a check to get off the hook for its high crimes is not "in the public interest." The Bad! Bill Looman. The Waco, Georgia resident who owns the company US Cranes just put in place a new company policy - vowing to not hire anyone until President Obama is out of office. And the very, very ugly...Liz Cheney. In an interview with GOP TV's Fox so-called News - Cheney proved - that like her father - she's living on another plant.

Hartmann: Euro crisis...Is the UK preparing for the END of the world?

Professor Steve Keen, University of Western Sydney, joins Thom Hartmann. While hoardes of Americans were beating the heck out of each other for two-dollar waffle makers in Wal Mart - the UK quietly announced that is preparing for an all out collapse of the global banking system. A Senior Minister within the UK government admitted to the Telegraph over the weekend that planning is already underway to deal with the aftermath of a Eurozone collapse and subsequent civil unrest. According to the article, UK government officials now believe a collapse of the euro is "just a matter of time," and consulates around Europe are being prepped to deal with rioting in other nations and how to help British citizens abroad who may soon be unable to access bank accounts and withdraw cash. On top of that news - in a new report - the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development drastically cut its expectations for economic growth in Europe and the United States over the next year. According to the OECD - Europe is stuck in a mild recession and the United States will soon follow. So just how bad can it get? And what can be done to mitigate the damage?

Hartmann: Payroll tax cuts - why negotiate with terrorists?

Richard Eskow, Campaign for America's Future joins Thom Hartmann. Another week - another vote on Capitol Hill - another Republican hostage crisis. But this round of deja vu is going to cost your family $1500 in the new year. So are Republicans willing to let taxes go up on the middle class just to protect tax cuts for the millionaires and billionaires? If so - they may want to consider this little factoid brought to us by the National Priorities Project. The average Bush tax cut in 2011 for a taxpayer in the richest one percent is GREATER than the average income of the other 99 percent. Thanks to Bush - 1%ers - on average -received $66384 in tax cuts last year. The average household income of the 99% is just $58506 and the average individual income is about half that. On top of that - the NPP pointed out that the Bush tax cuts cost far more in federal debt than in economic stimulation.

Hartmann: Teen Stared Down Governor Brownback & Won

It was a weekend of victories for the Occupy Wall Street movement - both big and small. But the greatest victory of the 99 percent may be the impact it's having on TOMORROW's patriots. Young people across America are becoming more politically conscious - whether that means camping out near City Hall - or just feeling empower to tweet that your Governor blows. And these people feel - that for the first time - there are support networks which give them the power to say no - to stand up for what they believe - no matter how powerful those who believe the opposite are. In the end - 18-year-old high school student Emma Sullivan stared down Governor Brownback - and it was Governor Brownback who flinched.
