The Big Picture Rumble - Why Republicans chose to lose the female vote

Anthony Holm, Republican Strategist, Sam Bennett, The She Should Run Foundation & Nicholas Ballasy, The Daily Caller, all join Thom Hartmann. -It's been a tough week for the US military strategy in Afghanistan...So isn't it time we just get the hell out of there? -This week former Goldman Sachs exec Greg Smith blasted his former employer - saying their's a toxic and destructive environment at Goldman. The bank routinely refers to customers as "muppets" and routinely swindles them. What should be done? -The War on Women continues. A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released last week asked women who they'd like to see controlling Congress at the beginning of next year - and 51% said Democrats & only 36% said Republicans. Why did Republicans choose to lose the female vote? -According to Reuters - Britain is set to collaborate with the US on tapping strategic oil stocks within the next few months to prevent record gas prices from affecting continued economic growth. Isn't the real reason we have record high gas prices because of speculation on Wall Street? Releasing oil from our strategic reserves will do nothing to stop the speculation - and therefore won't solve the problem of high gas prices - right? -Quickfire - This week - President Obama's re-election team released a new documentary highlighting the president's successes over his first term. Tom Hanks is narrating the film. So - not to be outdone by the President - who might the Republican candidates for President tap ...

Thom looks to President Eisenhower's accomplishments and calls on Republicans to take back their party. Also discussed: Arizona's latest proposed law against women, an occupy high school story out of Hyattsville, MD and why we should get out of Afghanistan now. And in tonight's "Daily Take" Thom calls out Fox "so-called" News for their latest rant of misinformation.

Thom Teaches Economics 101 to Fox-so-called-News

What's better than watching a bunch of media millionaires yuck it up on a comfy couch and demonize the poorest of the poor in America - including children who don't have enough food to eat each day unless the government steps in to help them? If you watched Fox so-called News this morning - you learned that President Obama is trying to buy votes with food stamps. What you didn't learn though - was basic economics. Well here's a little economics 101 lesson for you...Fox so-called News.

The Good, The Bad and the The Very Very Ranthropicously Ugly

The Good! *New Hampshire Legislature* Yesterday - the New Hampshire House of Representatives defeated the so-called "license to discriminate" bill. The Bad! *Rick Santorum* While campaigning in Puerto Rico this weekend - Santorum was asked by local paper El Vocero if he supported Puerto Ricans' right to self-determination when it comes to becoming a state. And the Very Very Ugly! *Arizona State Republicans* Just when you thought Arizona Republicans couldn't create any more ridiculous pieces of legislation - they've done it again. State Republicans are working on yet another birther bill.

Wonder why you wake up in the middle of the night?

Americans will do just about anything to get a good night's rest. But what could the history of our ancestors tell us about the proper way to catch some Z's? 8 hours of continuous sleep may be unnatural.

Attack Dogs used on a High School Walkout in MD

Free speech has come under attack at Occupy encampments from coast to coast. We've seen states like Georgia and Wisconsin try to restrict it - through either banning union picketing or requiring a permit to hold demonstrations or face arrest. Now - this war on one of our most fundamental rights is coming to a high school near you. On March 1st - students at Northwestern High School - just up the road in Hyattsville, Maryland tried to organize a walkout in support of increasing teacher pay and improving the quality of education at the school. They also wanted an apology issued to Filipino teachers who will lose their jobs because of expired visas. However - when the students tried to walk out - the school had police and administrators block the doors. Students were shoved and hit in the chaos - and attack dogs were waiting in the school parking lot for any students that may have gotten outside. Joining me now to discuss the school's attack on the freedom of speech are Ashley Pinder - Shane James and Erin James- students at Northwestern High School who were part of the planned walk-out..

The 'Tell Your Boss Why You're On The Pill' Bill

Amanda Beadle, Think Progress.org joins Thom Hartmann. The state that brought you the radical anti-immigration "papers, please" law - banned the teaching of Hispanic-American history - and created an official state handgun just months after their Congresswoman was shot in the head - is at it again. Republicans in the Arizona state senate are bringng the war against women to the Grand Canyon State. Legislation was just passed out of a Senate Committee that would require women to turn over their medical records to employers. Why? Let's just say it has something to with that pesky debate about contraceptives - a debate Republicans started to distract voters from an improving economy. And it's a debate that continues in Arizona - much to the chagrin of the American people. Here to talk about what's going on with Governor Jan Brewers backward state legislature - Thom is joined by Amanda Beadle w/ThinkProgress.

Time to pull a Saigon & get the hell out of Afghanistan?

Eli Clifton, Think Progress joins Thom Hartmann. The Taliban has ceased talks with US officials in Afghanistan. Should we accept this as the last straw and withdraw from the country?

"The Rent is Too Damn High" For the Middle Class!

Jeff Poor, Daily Caller vs. Thom Hartmann. As the Middle Class continues to suffer - new numbers suggest many can't even afford to rent a home. Isn't it time we end the failed experiment of Reaganomics and call on the rich to pay their fair share to help this country?

Somewhere Grover Norquist is freaking out!

The millionaire lobbyist and anti-tax master of the Republican Party may be losing his grip on power. Today - Freshman Republican Representative Rick Crawford is introducing legislation in the Tea Party-controlled House to raise taxes on millionaires and billionaires. Crawford's legislation mirrors what Democrats in the Senate have been trying to do for months - add a small surtax on anyone who makes more than $2 million a year. One aide close to Representative Crawford said about the legislation, "If we're going to make any progress in addressing the deficit and the debt eventually, then we need to find compromise." So it looks like at least one voice in the Republican Party is waking up to the reality of the situation - that Republicans can't ride a rich-people-only agenda to an election victory in 2012 - although they seem eager to try. As Vice President Joe Biden said in Ohio today - Republicans are about, "protecting the privileged." But it wasn't always this way...In the old days of the Republican Party - there wasn't just one voice willing to make the super rich sacrifice just a little bit more to protect the middle class - it was in fact a Party platform. Here's the big picture....
