As Politico reports - a Washington, DC-based organization - Center Forward - which is run by former Blue Dog Representative Bud Cramer and funded with a lot of corporate money - is spending $100000 in ads against progressive Matt Cartwright in Pennsylvania - accusing Cartwright of working against the President on health reform. That's right - the Blue Dogs who voted against Obamacare are accusing the progressive who is running in the primary - who supports a national health care system - they're accusing that progressive of being an opponent of the President's efforts to reform our broken healthcare system. So the question Democrats should be asking themselves - especially in Pennsylvania's 17th district - is if they want a true progressive Democrat - or a Blue Dog Democrat who fights against major progressive reforms? In 1952 - President Harry Truman had a message for Democrats. He said, "The people don't want a phony Democrat. If it's a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat, and I don't want any phony Democratic candidates in this campaign." Harry Truman's message to Democrats proved prophetic in 2010 - when nearly HALF of the entire 54 member Blue Dog caucus in the House of Representatives was voted out of office. How do we get back to the ideals of Harry Truman & remove phony Democrats from Congress?
