Hartmann: Occupy "Jail Cell" Wall Street

Kristen Gwynne & JA Myerson join Thom Hartmann. Occupy Wall Street movement is sweeping the nation with demonstrations underway now in Boston, Chicago, Memphis, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC - as well as solidarity demonstrations in other parts of the world like Canada, Europe, and Japan.

Hartmann: United Steelworkers are for in Occupy Wall Street

Leo Gerard, International President-United Steelworkers, joins Thom Hartmann. Yesterday - the New York Transport Workers Union - which last week pledged support for the Occupy Wall Street movement - went to court to block New York City and the NYPD from forcing bus drivers to transport arrested Wall Street protestors. After police rounded up and arrested 700 peaceful demonstrators on the Brooklyn Bridge over the weekend - the NYPD ordered unionized bus drivers to haul off the demonstrators. Now - the Transport Workers Union is going to court to make sure that doesn't happen again. This week - other unions are expected to join the Occupy Wall Street movement - swelling the number of demonstrators in Manhattan's Zuccotti Park to its highest numbers yet. So it looks like - with the support of major labor unions - the Occupy Wall Street movement has some teeth. Thom also talks to Leo Gerard about worker cooperatives and - have we reached a tipping point of capitalism?

Full Show - 10/3/11. Birth of the American Autumn

Thom examines the growing "Occupy Wall Street" protests across the nation and the momentum it's gaining with various influential labor unions. Later in the show, he highlights how the right wing think tank, The Heritage Foundation has flip flopped on the issue of "ObamaCare".

Hartmann: Proof - The Heritage Foundation Flip Flop on ObamaCare

Once upon a time a right wing think tank supported Obamacare...and now they don't! In tonight's Daily Take, proof that the Heritage Foundation is INDEED a flip-flopper when it comes to healthcare in America! Is the only reason why the Heritage Foundation switched from creating the individual mandate to now claiming it's UNCONSTITUTIONAL is because Barack Obama decided to take their policy advice?

Hartmann: Who told the Supreme Court they could overturn laws?

Clark Neily, Institute for Justice vs. Thom Hartmann. The essential question during this Supreme Court session will be - just what kind of court does Justice John Roberts preside over? Is it be a court that respects legal precedent - or a court that engages in judicial activism? During his confirmation hearing - Roberts talked about the important of precedents. Yet - in the Citizens United decision last year - the Roberts court overturned a century of election law in America to affirm that money is a form of free speech and declare that corporations both domestic and foreign can spend unlimited amounts of their corporate treasure chests to influence American elections. So with a slew of politically charged cases on the agenda this year - just how dangerous could the Roberts' Court judicial activism be to this nation? And - is it about time to reform how the high court does business? Plus - Where in the Constitution does it say that the Supreme Court has the right to strike down laws passed by Congress and signed by the President - Judicial Review? Where in the Constitution does it say that Congress and the President must do what SCOTUS says?

Hartmann: Supreme Agenda - Secret GPS Tracking & ObamaCare

Brian Siebel, Alliance For Justice joins Thom Hartmann. Today marks the start of the Supreme Court's new session - and on the dockett this year are over 50 cases that could have sweeping effects on life in America. From now til' June of next year - the high court is expected to rule on issues concerning police tracking suspects' vehicles with secret GPS devices - affirmative action - far-right immigration laws - to even nudity on television. Of course - the biggest showdown - what some are calling the elephant in the room this session - will be a ruling expected next year on the constitutionality of President Obama's Affordable Care Act. Put all this in front of a backdrop of a 2012 election season - then this could be one of the most significant Supreme Court sessions in the history of this nation. So will our nation's highest court respect precedent - or turn to activism?

Hartmann: Jim Dean - How do we train the next generation of activists?

Jim Dean, Chair of Democracy for America (DFA) joins Thom Hartmann. Despite a media blackout of the protests, brutality by police, and rough weather - the resolve of the young people who want to transform this nation for the better cannot be broken. The next cycle of revolution in America is just beginning

The Good, The Bad, and the very very Longicaudally Ugly

The Good. California Governor Jerry Brown, "I am signing SB 769 which allows for a dead mountain lion to be stuffed and displayed. This presumably important bill earned overwhelming support by both Republicans and Democrats. If only that same energetic bipartisan spirit could be applied to creating clean energy jobs and ending tax laws that send jobs out of state." The Bad. Rick "Don't Google My Name" Santorum. The Republican presidential hopeful is still catching flak for not condemning the audience boos toward a gay US soldier at the last Republican debate. The very very Ugly. Hank Williams, Jr. The country musician famous for singing the opening to Monday Night Football - went on Fox and Friends this morning - and it took him only one minute to compare President Obama to Hitler.

Hartmann: New expose on Koch Bros - Iranian ties?

Cliff Schecter, Libertas, LLC joins Thom Hartmann. And - we all know the Koch Brothers have mastered pumping their ideas and money into right wing think tanks - as well as their pollution into the atmosphere - but is the billionaire duo pumping cash to state sponsors of terrorism too? Details on this bombshell now. According to Bloomberg - Koch Industries is doing business with Iran - a state sponsor of terrorism - will this revelation hurt the Koch brand - will it make their contributions toxic? If Iran is funding attacks on US troops in Iraq or Afghanistan - and the Kochs are making money of the Iranian government - isn't there a glaring unpatriotic connection - if not treasonous - connection?

Hartmann: Occupy Wall Street - The Birth of an American Autumn

Sarah Jaffe, Alternet joins Thom Hartmann. The "Occupy Wall Street" protests were again shaken up by the NYPD...as hundreds of peaceful demonstrators were hauled off to jail. But despite the police crackdown, the movement is still growing...details on where other fed-up Americans are camping out...and how this moment of activism in America can be utilized to its fullest

Full Show - 9/30/11. Should We Assassinate Terrorists who are American citizens without Due Process?

Thom discusses the death of top Al-Qaeda leader, Anwar al-AulakiAl and whether or not America is getting carried away in the "War on Terror". Later in the show, Thom debates the week's hottest news topics in the Weekly Rumble.

Hartmann: Free Trade - POOF goes the Money & the Stimulus

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told Congress to get to work helping the Fed find jobs. But there's something that Bernanke and the rest of the power players in Washington just don't get. I'll tell you what that is in my Daily Take.

Hartmann: Unions join Occupy Wall Street

JA Myerson, Alternet joins Thom Hartmann with the eyewitness report. Despite efforts of the NYPD to break the momentum of the "Occupy Wall Street" protest...the movement is GAINING support from big name organizations! It looks like corporate greed, crony capitalism, and the "for the rich, by the rich" economy may have finally reached a tipping point in America.
