India is taking drastic economic measures to save their nation - and we need to do the same thing here in America. As the Times of India is reporting today - the government there has banned all exports of cotton until further notice. Considering that India is the world's second largest producer and exporter of cotton, - then this is a BFD - and global investors are lighting their hair on fire. As the Financial Times wrote today, "India's last export ban, declared in 2010, helped send cotton markets to record highs. Farmers and mills defaulted on deliveries as prices jumped, causing losses or poor results for global commodity merchants..." But India doesn't care - because they view their economy different than we do in the United States. They put the best interest of their citizens above the best interests of global markets - so they could care less about what the banksters and the Financial Times are saying.

The Bad! *The TSA* It was another rough PR week for the TSA. On Wednesday - TSA agents at Lihue Airport in Hawaii forced a woman to prove that her breast pump was real by making her use it in the women's restroom. And the Very Very Ugly! *Kirk Cameron* In an interview with Piers Morgan - Hollywood teen heart-throb turned radical Conservative Kirk Cameron made some startling remarks about homosexuality.

The candidates and their SuperPACs have spent nearly $10 million on Super Tuesday so far - with the Romney campaign responsible for more than half of all of that spending. And as of right now - it appears to be working. Romney is narrowing the gap between himself and Rick Santorum in crucial swing states like Ohio where Santorum held a wide lead just two weeks ago. In fact - according to the latest Quinnipiac poll - Romney is now leading Santorum in Ohio - 34 to 31%. Of course - back-dropping the Ohio Primary is the devastation caused by last week's tornado outbreak that killed 39 people in the Midwest - and kicked off the start of the tornado season a full month early. Still - none of the Republican candidates believe in man-made climate change - and all the candidates support Ohio Governor John Kasich, who's playing politics with people's lives by turning down federal disaster relief aid for tornado victims in his state.

With the economy improving - Republicans have started attacking President Obama about rising gas prices. Some forecasts show gas prices hitting five dollars a gallon this summer - and the Right wants you to belive that high prices have something to do with President Obama's rejection of the Keystone pipeline - or maybe his refusal to expand drilling in Alaska - or just his downright hatred of America. They want you to belive that the United States has a shortage of oil - and that if the President were to just drill, baby, drill - then prices will plummet. But that's not true. It's not even close to true. The United States isn't short on oil - it's awash in oil. In fact - we have so much oil that we're getting rid of much of it by shipping it overseas. As Bloomberg reported yesterday...for the first since 1949 - that's 62 years - the United States is now a net-exporter of oil products. That means we shipped more oil products out to places in South America, Europe, and Asia - than we imported in from around the world. In fact - every single day in 2011 - oil corporations ship about 460000 MORE barrels of oil OUT of the country than were imported into the country that day. So if gas prices are rising because supplies in the US have dropped - then why are we getting rid of so much of it by exporting it? It's because the President can't legally tell multi-billion dollar transnational oil corporations where to sell their oil. And these corporations don't give a damn about gas ...

Lets get geeked out on some science. New research suggests that methycillin resistant Staphyloccus aureus - better known as the highly antibiotic resistant superbug MERSA - the flesh-eating bacteria that has killed so many people - may have evolved its defenses to antibiotics on a factory farm. A paper published by the American Society for Microbiology lays out how a human strain of MERSA was originally drug-defeatable - but then transferred into a pig population where it developed its resistance to antibiotics - and bounced back into the human population. Like most forms of livestock - pigs are often fed antibiotics to help them grow faster and prevent the infections that come with the crowding and horrible conditions in factory farms. As a result - any infection they may have - like MERSA - becomes immune to the high levels of antibiotics in their systems. The fact that pigs have played a role in creating a human superbug shouldn't come as any surprise considering pigs and humans are biologically quite similar. Until a human insulin drug was made in 1978 - Pig insulin was routinely used to treat diabetes in humans. New studies also suggest that implanting embryonic pig insulin cells in diabetes patients may help them produce their own insulin. Hypothyroidism - one of the most common health ailments in women - is often treated with help from a hormone extracted from pig thyroid glands.
