Full Show 3/29/12: Thom offers an easier alternative to Obamacare

Thom details how to easily provide health care for all if Obamacare is struck down. Also discussed: the increasing radiation dangers from the Fukushima disaster, the troubles with the Republican's transportation bill and why some are advocating to keep pink slime in our food. In tonight's "Daily Take" Thom questions Rick Santorum's sexuality.

Does Santorum have "Pink Balls?"

The Human Rights Campaign jumped on Santorum's latest homophobic rant by releasing this statement saying, "This is another example of Rick Santorum intentionally making ignorant statements that have a real impact on LGBT people...Kids have enough to worry about. They don't need Rick Santorum telling them that using a pink bowling ball is a bad thing." So - from comparing same-sex relationships to sodomy and incest - to saying that ending Don't Ask, Don't Tell amounts to "social experimentation" in our military - to now telling little kids they can't use pink bowling balls - Rick Santorum is proving himself to be the ultimate homophobe. And according to science - homophobes not only have a tendency to be obsessed with gays in public - but they're usually also obsessed with gays in private. Something to think about - as Rick Santorum takes his anti-gay tour around the nation. Here's actress and musician Katie Goodman - and her "Broad Comedy" troupe - exposing the dark secret about homophobia in America.... Hey, Rick - I'm just sayin'...

The Good, The Bad and the Very Very Anepigraphously Ugly!

The Good! * Jim Yong Kim* In an op-ed in Thursday's Financial Times - the US nominee for World Bank president wrote that he would aim to lift the poorest people in the world out of poverty by promoting economic growth in poor and developing countries. The Bad! *Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan* Moynihan was given a $7.5 million dollar pay package for 2011 - six times as much as in 2010. and the Very Very Ugly! *Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia* During yesterday's final day of oral arguments over Obamacare - Scalia seemed amazed that someone would expect him - and the rest of the court - to read over the entire text of the health care law - and referred to reading it as a cruel and unusual punishment.

Romney at Center of 'Pink Slime' Controversy

David Selig, Federal Tax Practitioner vs. Thom Hartmann. Over the past couple weeks - pink slime has been all the rage. Pink slime is that so-called "meat filler" that's made from portions of cow meat that aren't even good enough for dogs. And - let's not forget - these pieces of "meat" are often filled with dangerous bacteria - so they have to be washed down with Ammonia hydroxide - the same chemical found in common floor cleaners. In light of the recent revelations over the less-than-healthy "pink slime" - foodstores and restaurants across the nation have pulled it from their shelves and menus. However - Conservative lobbying groups like the National Meat Association argue that there is nothing wrong with the chewy pink stuff - and that it's just as healthy as regular meat. Joining Thom to debate the merits of pink slime and why Big Meat wants us to eat it - is David Selig - conservative commentator.

Transportation bill...back to the future?

Ed Wytkind, Transportation Trades Department - AFL-CIO joins Thom Hartmann. House Republicans passed a 3-month extension to critical transportation program funding - but are still holding the legislation hostage. Why do Conservatives want to see an America filled with cracked roads and collapsed bridges? So what do today's events mean for working people around America - and our crumbling transporation infrastructure?

Fukushima...radiation so high - even robots not safe

Kevin Kamps, Beyond Nuclear joins Thom Hartmann. More than a year into the nuclear crisis at Fukushima - radiation levels have now reached their highest point yet. What does all this mean - and what should nuclear supporters in America be taking away from the continuing crisis?

Congress bowed down to the Big Oil Kings today

Miles Grant, Blogger-National Wildlife Federation joins Thom Hartmann. Congress bowed down to the Big Oil kings again today - keeping in place the subsidies that rob Americans of $40 million dollars. Just how harmful is Washington's committment to Big Oil and corporate greed?

SCOTUS vs. POTUS & "Budget for All"

Robert Borosage, Co-Director, Campaign for America's Future joins Thom Hartmann. House Republicans passed the Paul Ryan budget today - ignoring the same sort of austerity budget that is triggering riots across the Atlantic. So how long until similar unrest hits America - especially with the Supreme Court ready to rip healthcare coverage out of the hands of tens of millions of Americans?

Full Show 3/28/12: The End of the American Dream

Thom speaks about the end of the American dream, and what has replaced it. Tonight's "Lone Liberal Rumble" panel discusses Obamacare (SCOTUS v. POTUS), our extreme airport security measures and the latest from the Trayvon Martin case. In tonight's "Daily Take" Thom gives his reasons why the Supreme Court doesn't have the constitutional power to strike down laws.

Democratic Underground Readers are Wrong on SCOTUS

On Monday of this week I did a rant about how the Supreme Court was never given the power to overturn laws based on the Constitution. The clip went up over at Democratic Underground yesterday, and today here are the comments - with my responses. The Supreme Court doesn't have the power to overturn acts of Congress - so why do so many people think otherwise?
