Thom, maybe I oughta try calling you sometime while you're on the air. I would love to ask why you're still so Obama-friendly, knowing he's behind the TPP... even to the point of wanting to fast-track it! Between that and his hit lists with murder-by-drone, I've had my fill of President Obama. I am ashamed of myself for having squandered my vote on this smooth-talking fascist. "Change we can believe in" has turned out to be little more than a clever sales pitch.
I think Loren Bliss was onto something. According to Mr. Bliss, our last presidential election was just a total farce. Staging Romney as Obama's opponent guaranteed Obama's second term, which was the agenda all along. I feel duped, and I am very afraid for our future. We've been conned on a massive scale. - Aliceinwonderland
Quote Fgholam2: or are all Democrats ripping us off the same way the republicans do when they are in office? are the republicrats taking turns screwing us?
I believe that you are correct on this one...and I also believe that the Democrats will propose a lot of things that is meant to impress the people but know that those proposals won't ever see the light of day....which is why they proposed them in the first place..for the propaganda effect. Both parties now represent the 1% and not the 99% and they are merely playing mind games of "blame the other guys" while they ratchet up more control and wealth accumulation by the wealthy 1%. So, yes, they are taking turns screwing us!
It's time for us to get off the two party bandwagon and either vote for a third party headed by people like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders...or do something more physical than merely voting. Until that happens...nothing will change for the good of the 99%..the fascists will continue to consolidate their power and before long they'll be forcing some of us into the gas chambers (literally, or at least figuratively). The Nazis robbed their victims of everything they had before they killed them...the same may befall us in the US as well... no matter what our ethnicity, beliefs, or convictions. Yes, even those sorry sap suckers who have been conned into believing in right wing nonsense will be shoved into the "gas chambers and ovens" right along with those of us who were never dumb enough to believe that the US exists under a democracy. Democracy in the US is a lie!
Democracy in the US is long dead. The only way to revive democracy in the US is to break the chains of the two-party system or do as other citizens of other countries have done when they came to realize that their 1% were driving them into their graves. They set the example! History sets the example! Nothing else really works. Tzars and Kings and Dictators had to be toppled by the people. And the ruling elite...the 1%....need to be toppled....for a change...a change we really can, this time, believe in.
Aliceinwonderland; I don't keep up with replys like I should, sorry bout that. Anyway, I don't really burn rubber anymore, that was three or four decades ago, a sub six mile is about it. I do run everyday, weather isn't a factor. By the way, Oregon is a sacred place to we distance runners, you're lucky to live there.
With 70% of the Spy Industrial Complex now privatized it would be quite naive of NSA administation, to assume there are not anymore Snowden's already within their ranks. As a new employee, in less than three months Snowden had the ability to wiretap anyone in the country, including fascists like Chris Christie. The fascists will reap what they sow when it comes to anti-union, anti-democracy privatization. Trust me, there are already those within the spy network who have a true sense of what liberty and freedom stand for.
Remember it's still all about money....you need war to feed the military industrial complex and terror to feed the spy complex. It's like trying to get rid of the obsolete combustible gas engine, money, power, and greed keep it viable.
Palin, I clicked on that link and read some of the reviews. You're right; the fewer the stars, the more enlightened the comments. When the discussion is about a book written to dumb-down and brainwash rather than educate, this is hardly surprising. Overall I found it depressing, reading those posts. The amount of ignorance in our society is breathtaking. Sometimes I'm inspired to counter it with my own comments, but right now it just makes me tired.
Some of the people who frustrate me most are those who seem to think the truth always has to be somewhere in "the middle"; that regardless of the subject or context, there has to be two sides to everything. When it comes to an issue like global warming, that assumption doesn't wash. It's just a cop-out. - AIW
Good post on Amazon!---AIW
And I read some of the other comments from others as well both pro and con the book. Of course, I thought that the one star comments were way more honest, truthful, and realistic than the 4 or 5 star comments. That's one book that is obviously not worth reading. http://www.amazon.com/Green-Hell-Environmentalists-Plan-Control/product-...
By the way, I noticed on that Amazon comment link (the first one) that he used a much younger picture of himself.
Yes they must have a warrant, but it is too late now, they already have all the info, we the people now should have access to all the data they collected on us, we have to make a new law, based on the constitution, that each one of us have the right to review our files in their computer/s, we should be able to get a printout of what they know about us, and make it illegal to be used against us as long as we are citizens of this country. We need to know who are all the workers they had hired to do the data collections, their addresses, and what nationalitythey are. It is also time to take on the Media, get it back from corporate, The Media is ours, we want the truth, should be working for us for our well being, all the time and for no one else, us the people, in the US and the world. If it is true we are the 99%, we should be able to get all that done in no time, we are the power, we have the key, if the media don't work for us, then we shut it down, if 99% of the people shut their TV. and radio off, they go out of business, if the 99% don't like their kids to go fight to get corporations richer and us poorer and lose our kids lives for them we stop all wars and bring our kids home. If we want $0.50 a gallon of gas we stop driving for a while. There are few good people in the Government, but if they just talk and say they are with us, it is not enough, they should be the ones to organize us, and lead us through a revolution to get things right. If Obama is the commander and Chief, and the republicans getting rich off war, and taking abolishing our constitution, the Banks, wall street and all taking advantage of us, and living off the military, and if they really giving Obama hard time, won't let him pass any proposal he comes out with, why the hell doesn't he call off all wars and bring all our troops home? he is the Commander and Chief, isn't he? or is he in the same game? or are all Democrats ripping us off the same way the republicans do when they are in office? are the republicrats taking turns screwing us? Come on now we are the power, Power of the people, we are the Super and only power in the world. No UN, no NATO, No New World order, just shut them all down. We want to live Happy and Free, and we haveall the rights to have that.
Quote Kend:I think we all believe in the freedom of speech. Don't we?
Kend ~ Of course we do! You can say anything you want, Kend. So can anyone else. If they chose to tell you to "shut the hell up", don't you believe they have that right too? It doesn't mean you have to.
Aliceinwonderland ~ In response to that last post on the Vortex blog I do agree. However, I also have a gut feeling that the man believes his own rhetoric. Like that one poster commented on the other blog site, he made up his mind a long time ago and cherry picks his data to support it. I believe any well educated professional BS artist could do a much better job. The problem is that most highly educated professionals are committed to truth seeking and value their own personal integrity. They are talented, and as such, like to use their talents in productive ways to the betterment of everyone. This guy is a hack who seeks anything to support his foregone conclusions. Perhaps because only those conclusions have given him any clout in life. As such, he probably doesn't even have to be bribed as much as someone who knows better would have to be. Like I said before, a useful idiot.
Quote Palindromedary:But, it all goes to show that just because you, somehow, managed to get some pull and land an important sounding job with the government doesn't mean you know sh!t!
Palindromedary ~ Actually I think the converse is equally true in this case. ie Because you KNOW SH!T, you managed to get enough pull to land an important sounding job with the government. Very sad; yet, very true!
Also, I agree, it is time to lay off the poor guy. You did a fantastic job of unveiling the man. Aliceinwonderland is right, you are quite a bloodhound. I'm sure glad you're on our side. Thanks again for a most enjoyable evening.
He's even in the White Pages...and with that you can even see his house in Virginia using Google Earth street view. I wonder which car is his...the old one that's rusting on top and full of junk or the new bluish Subaru? I guess maybe it's time to lay off the poor guy...I've gone as far as I had hoped to.
But, it all goes to show that just because you, somehow, managed to get some pull and land an important sounding job with the government doesn't mean you know sh!t! Isn't that right all you NIST idiots who weighed in on 9/11 Towers collapses.
Palindromedary ~ You're kidding me. Not only was he someone who couldn't do, so he taught; but, he was a substitute teacher. Oh, golly me, there goes my belly laugh for the day. And he didn't even make it past one year. 2000/2001 says it all. I knew Bush's hand was in here somewhere. Who else is going go appoint this clown in any position. Like I said, a useful idiot.
Here's another of my more memorable quotes from the blog...
Quote Brian Valentine:I don’t care what any of them believe, I have myself only to convince.
I’ll put it as simply as I can, then leave it alone.
If some CO2 is added to a furnace containing combustion gases, the temperature will rise. If the walls of the furnace conduct to the surroundings, the temperature achieved in the furnace will be lower, but a higher temperature than without CO2 present.
That sure explains this quote. Apparently Mr. Valentine never built a fire in a fireplace. The fire gives of CO2 and sucks in Oxygen. You can add CO2 by covering the chimney and just letting it build up. However, if it builds up too much, the fire goes out. It doesn't get hotter. The only way to make it hotter is by adding more oxygen. He should have left it alone before he made it simpler. Of course, he only has himself to convince. He does a really good job at that.
Like I said before, I kind of feel sorry for the guy. He got used like a tool big time.
I agree. These businesses have laid claim to us and our information like we are things instead of people. Their message is that they own us. I resent these squatters in our lives. That information belongs to us and they have no business hijacking it for their pecuniary gain any more than someone has the right to pirate songs from musicians. It just goes to show you how corrupt our government has become that they not only stand back while the rape happens, but that they participate in it as well.
And I totally support Thom when he says they need to get a warrant. Just the exercise of having to go to the courts and get a warrant puts up a barrier between us and the predators.
Quote Kend:Really Alice but you tell me to shut up. WOW.
Kend ~ Come on buddy, you know Alice isn't the only person to have ever told you to shut up. So, what is your point? You think that because she doesn't care if she's spied on that she shouldn't mind listening to you? Have you ever listened to yourself?
Palin, you are one friggin' bloodhound. I tip my hat to you. And the more of this twerp's posts I read, the more I am convinced he's the same guy who attacked us here. It sure was fun reading that blog where Valentine dukes it out with the scientists. Let me see...that was the year old GWB became president and had all those fake "scientific experts" falsify scientific documents....hmmmmm!
Of course he is listed there as and "Adjunct" Associate Professor which means, of course, he was not a permanent fixture at the University of Maryland. I guess they never invited him back? I wonder why?
After reading Mr. Valentine's science-bashing screed on that Amazon page, I posted this response:
Mr. Valentine, with all your colorful rhetoric about "green slop" ad nauseam you simply identify yourself as a hack with some sort of an agenda. Everything you accuse the "enviors" [translation: environmentalists] of can easily be recognized in the antics of people like yourself. Makes me wonder how much money you might be receiving from the Kochs or their ilk, for promoting this quackery. Perhaps you should find another hobby more fitting to your intellectual limitations. And while you're at it, you can cease your sophomoric harassment of my friends on Thom Hartmann's blog.
