  • Is Trump About to Commit his Ultimate Treason?   3 years 45 weeks ago

We still have dead-enders roaring around in jacked-up 3/4 tons with oversized Trump flags flapping defiantly, like Toyota-truck terrorists in the Middle East. Perhaps they should lower their flags at half-mast now that Dear Leader is toast.

"The big 'get'" will probably be that Putin and his pet oligarchs were the crucial ingredients in helping to bail out the insolvent Trump Organization, and not just by purchasing units in his hotels or some dilapidated mansion (and here).

The biggest unresolved suspicion is that, in their quest to launder ill-gotten gains derived from raping their own economy, the Ruskies also back-stopped Deutsche Bank's hopelessly tangled-up private banking "deals," many of which were mysteriously afforded The Donald despite six major bankruptcies when no other bank in their right mind would lend another red-fcking-cent to one of New York's most irredeemable, tax-dodging, sleaziest real estate grifters of all time, which is a remarkable characterization even for the Big Apple and its Big Crooks.

Trump's sore winners make even worse losers.

The great and all-powerful Wizard of Oz has deep thoughts on why he actually won the election. His profound intuition is really quite ingenious in its sheer simplicity, which is why it's so deeply insightful -- whoosh, way over the head of mere mortals.

Ready? Okay, here goes... hang onto something in case such blinding brilliance makes you lightheaded: The 78 million votes cast by the evil and damned DemocRATS are, by definition, all-caps ILLEGAL; therefore, the 72 million cast by the blessed and holy Republicans are the only legal ones that should be counted.

There you have it. What else do you need? The evidence? Oh, well, of course, it's the fact that he "lost" the election ... by counting illegal DemocRAT votes!

See? Sheer genius, I tells ya. How can spellbound Republicans not fall in line behind such a powerful truth uttered from the blowfish lips of God's "chosen one," as smarmy as he is?

And fall in line they will. Without thinking. Naturally.

The body count is of no consequence when someone views the Russians that work with us as objects. That is the behavior you can expect from a sociopath like Trump. I believe, this is one of the last but probably the most valuable thing that Putin plans to extract from his operative.

This is how they will neutralize any tactical insight President Elect Biden might gain from those sources to form Russian policy. It will hamstring Joe and make him look ineffectual. And isn't that the sort of revenge Donald lives for? It is probably a twofer in that it will harm Biden and maybe get Putin to ease-off or release him. I'm not sure Trump is a willing asset, but I think Vladimir owns him.

Make no mistake, Putin will kill those Russians implicated. He and Trump are sociopathic criminals who value few things: power, wealth, and loyalty to them. The big "get" for the media will be finding the truth behind Putin's leverage, which is likely what he can prove about or has offered to the soon to be Citizen Donald Trump.

We should salute these reporters and those worldwide for their bravery. In the last decade, close to 600 have died in the call of duty and that is just the pros. They estimate 21 were murdered by Putin.

Thanks for sharing your friend's insights, Legend. It is well written. Scary stuff. Paula White in the link sounds severely mentally ill. What's the difference between a lunatic raving from a pulpit or from a mental ward? Answer: the number of people who take a fool seriously.

After all that our nation has endured in its tumultuous history, the irony is thick and truly startling that we now find ourselves at this deadly intersection of "religion" (more like mass psychosis) and politics, where nearly half of the electorate voted to murder democracy and establish an authoritarian theocracy/plutocracy, in the name of the false gods before them.

I tried to write an email to my lame duck Republican Senator Cory Gardner today, through his website. I wanted to suggest that he concede to John Hickenlooper and that he congratulate Joe Biden on his win. He has removed the Contact Cory function from his website. They work for us until January 3rd with no way to contact them. Glad that we voted him out.

Even Carl Rove, one of the high priests of right wing conservatism, has urged COVID-45 to capitulate. Maybe that will help save the empire. Who knows? But, the monied elites, as always , will decide the fate of us peons.

A friend sent me this. I thought it was well written. You can look up the author on Wikipedia:

    “Dear White Evangelicals,
I need to tell you something: People have had it with you.
    They’re done.
They want nothing to do with you any longer, and here’s why:
They see your hypocrisy, your inconsistency, your incredibly selective mercy, and your thinly veiled supremacy.
For eight years they watched you relentlessly demonize a black President; a man faithfully married for 26 years; a doting father and husband without a hint of moral scandal or the slightest whiff of infidelity.
They watched you deny his personal faith convictions, argue his birthplace, and assail his character—all without cause or evidence. They saw you brandish Scriptures to malign him and use the laziest of racial stereotypes in criticizing him.
And through it all, White Evangelicals—you never once suggested that God placed him where he was,
you never publicly offered prayers for him and his family,
you never welcomed him to your Christian Universities,
you never gave him the benefit of the doubt in any instance,
you never spoke of offering him forgiveness or mercy,
your evangelists never publicly thanked God for his leadership,
your pastors never took to the pulpit to offer solidarity with him,
you never made any effort to affirm his humanity or show the love of Jesus to him in any quantifiable measure.
You violently opposed him at every single turn—without offering a single ounce of the grace you claim as the heart of your faith tradition. You jettisoned Jesus as you dispensed damnation on him.
And yet you give carte blanche to a white Republican man so riddled with depravity, so littered with extramarital affairs, so unapologetically vile, with such a vast resume of moral filth—that the mind boggles.
And the change in you is unmistakable. It has been an astonishing conversion to behold: a being born again.
With him, you suddenly find religion.
With him, you’re now willing to offer full absolution.
With him, all is forgiven without repentance or admission.
With him you’re suddenly able to see some invisible, deeply buried heart.
With him, sin has become unimportant, compassion no longer a requirement.
With him, you see only Providence.
And White Evangelicals, all those people who have had it with you—they see it all clearly.
They recognize the toxic source of your inconsistency.
They see that pigmentation and party are your sole deities.
They see that you aren’t interested in perpetuating the love of God or emulating the heart of Jesus.
They see that you aren’t burdened to love the least, or to be agents of compassion, or to care for your Muslim, gay, African, female, or poor neighbors as yourself.
They see that all you’re really interested in doing, is making a God in your own ivory image and demanding that the world bow down to it.
They recognize this all about white, Republican Jesus—not dark-skinned Jesus of Nazareth.
And I know you don’t realize it, but you’re digging your own grave in these days; the grave of your very faith tradition.
Your willingness to align yourself with cruelty is a costly marriage. Yes, you’ve gained a Supreme Court seat, a few months with the Presidency as a mouthpiece, and the cheap high of temporary power—but you’ve lost a whole lot more.
You’ve lost an audience with millions of wise, decent, good-hearted, faithful people with eyes to see this ugliness.
You’ve lost any moral high ground or spiritual authority with a generation.
You’ve lost any semblance of Christlikeness.
    You’ve lost the plot.
And most of all you’ve lost your soul.
I know it’s likely you’ll dismiss these words. The fact that you’ve even made your bed with such malevolence, shows how far gone you are and how insulated you are from the reality in front of you.
But I had to at least try to reach you. It’s what Jesus would do.”
    -John Pavlovitz

To Rofo47, You are correct. Just like Statehood for DC (voted 93% for Biden, by far the highest) is impossible. DC has a population larger than Vermont or Wyoming but has no Senators or voting Congressional Representative. Puerto Rico is the 31st largest if it was a state at 3.2 million. They are US citizens but cannot vote and have no representation. Both deserve statehood. It takes 22 or the smaller states to add up to the population of California. They get 44 Senators, California gets 2.

The only way to truly eliminate the Electoral College would be a Constitutional amendment. Because of the overwhelming number of votes needed, it would be next to impossible. The GOP would never go for it because they know that would be the end for them. Am I wrong?

The Lincoln Project has a lot of good things to say about the current state of the Republican Party. You have to remember that they are Republicans. Republicans from the old school. The John McCain type. But they are aghast at what has happened to the Republican Party. Colorado elected Lauren Boebert to Congress from the 3rd district (Western Colorado). She is famous for carrying a gun on her hip and her beliefs in Qanon. She defeated her opponent by claiming that she was a socialist, using the fact that her opponent has a PHD in Sociology. This is what our country has come to.

  • Healthcare: Let's Have People over Profits Once And For All   3 years 45 weeks ago

Dr Hartman. I love my unversal health care. I was born in the USA and moved to Australia when I was hired away 20 years ago. I applaud your efforts to reform the crazy US sytem.

In 2014 when I had a massive pulnomary embolism (polycythemia Ruba Vera) and fell dead on the kitchen floor, I got 45 minutes of CPR from my wife, and then got moved by ambulance and helicopter to the main public hospital in my state. I spent most of a month in the brain injury clinic at the RAH and then a week at the brain rehab unit at Hampstead. I didn't owe a cent. And yes I had a hypoxic brain injury that is still effecting me.

You do have one thing wrong though. The big difference between the USA and other nations is not weather or not there is for-profit insurance and/or for-profit medical care available. It is weather or not there is a public option that makes it so that those private insurers & private doctors and private hospitals are not the only game in town.

When they are not the only game in town, it becomes far less liklely that people will die from an inability to afford care, although it can still happen. Some medications are not covered under the Medicare system here, so you would have to import them under the special access sceme (which is very expensive to do).

At any rate, I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but your primary premise is incorrect. I have had private for-profit health insurance here in Australia. There are private doctors and private hospitals here too (not just members-only funds).

Private for-profit health insurance can be easly obtained (for a price of course) in : Australia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, the UK and Switzerland (and probably a lot of other nations - I am not an insurance expert. I just did a quick web search and a bit of reading).

We have several for-profit funds here in Australia (Bupa, NIB and others); a number of members-only not-for-profit funds; and a public Medicare system where the public hospitals are free (GP's and prescriptions are heavily heavily subsidized).

As a result you don't have to pay for that hernia surgery. But if a person does choose to go private (maybe they are are a hurry to get a non-critical thing done & don't feel like having a 6 month wait) then they can go private. And the price is nothing like in the USA.

When my wife had minor surgery last year we did it privatly to avoid a trip that would have an avoidable impact. We paid about $800 total for day surgery, including the price of the anathesiologist.... but then in Australia even those private doctors are subsidized by Medicare for a whole lot of common procedures.

Ambulance cover is still an oddball here. Some states include it; some only if you are on a government payment like disability, carers or an elder pension. They really need to make it a part of Medicare. I live in South Australia so I have to pay for my Ambulance cover. But if a person is on a disability pension as I am then the cost of ambulance cover is not very much. I pay about $100 a year for the family.

Things will change as the generations die off. It is that simple. Now that a portion of the people can work from home, there will be more movement to the red states. That's what happened in Arizona and Georgia. I think North Carolina is a possibility eventually. Michigan and Wisconsin came back to reality.

As for the f-ing electoral college, we know their names and where they live. This is the 21st Century. How brave or brazen do you think they are willing to be even if they are hand picked? Harm comes in so many different forms these days, and it is obvious the left is going to fight back. Obviously, we need to try to abolish it.

I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't understand that Trump is a sociopath, and that he is far from intelligent. He is disorganized and has the attention span of a gnat. Just remember a good portion of his 70 million votes had to do with someone's racism, pocketbook or religion. Forget those in his cult, and let's try to educate the ones that are reachable. He really screwed-up the Republican Party and exposed the scum. I am proud of the media that continues to take him and his administration to task. Thanks Thom.

Don't let your imagination or intellect get stuck in the past. The modern world will triumph. We are building the future.

Whether it's dealing with the electoral college, (or equal rights, civil rights, climate change, gun control, etc.) as long as the oligarchs (and the lesser factions) can control our elected officials, we will not be able to have a government that meets its purpose.

Our Founding Fathers spent a great deal of time in developing and implementing our government, using the best plan and solutions that they had in the 18th Century. It's reasonable to assume that they would expect a 21st Century America would employ the best methods we have available now. That would mean, first establishing a common purpose for our government, and lucky for us, that was already done in the Preamble. Second, we need a method to measure how well our government is meeting its purpose, and third, if it falls short of its purpose, identify the root cause and create a strategy to eliminate that which is ruining our nation.

In Thom Hartmann's latest book The Hidden History of Monopolies: How Big Business Destroyed the American Dream, he shared this stark assessment of what we're dealing:

“There are movements to get money out of politics (such as Move to Amend, among others) but the flow of money into our politics has dampened any serious discussion from our corporate media and bought-off political leaders.

So long as corporations are considered “persons” that can spend unlimited amounts of money in our politics, the monopolists will continue to flood our legislatures with corrupting money.”

There is only one proven way to deal with governments that do things adverse to our rights and the interests of our communities, and that is with persistent nonviolent resistence. We have lots of grievances that need to be redressed, and we just need a critical mass of our citizens to unite with our free press in order to compel our elected officials to meet their purpose. How hard is that?

Things to keep in mind as 2024 approaches. "The National Popular Vote" pact among states, while closing in on 270 electoral votes, will have vulnerabilities: If there is a party change in leaderhip and legislature in a state having signed the pact, the pact allows them to withdraw within 6 months before the next President is sworn in. If a state were to withdraw after that 6 month deadline, for example 1 month before the November election, this will become a court matter, which appears to be stacked against Democrats. Most concerning would be SCOTUS intervening in a dispute any where/time to help a Republican nominee by voiding the agreement. There is nothing to restrain them! Another factor will be the 2020 census impact on reapportionment. ... The experiment in democracy keeps failing, the "framers" made it so difficult to change, and at some point the failure will be the last.

If you think that Don is stupid, you are wrong. He is an evil genius. He's light-years away from any Democrat in destructive measures and planning. He's even has the guts to install a minion in the Pentagon for "crowd control" which can be used next time to "silence" any dissension. OH, HE KNOWS HOW TO INSTALL SLEEPERS, with surgical precision!

He just pretends to be a buffoon. That's his magician "slide of hand".. It continually works on Democrats, who are so blind, that they can't even figure out why Republicans are so silent. Republicans already KNOW the future!

A mere two years down the road, and, whammo! The "silent" Republicans continue with their destruction.

    The Reason Why?

Biden will be hamstrung. And having no power, ONCE AGAIN a Democrat will be villified as another "do nothing" President - He can't have a new cabinet, pass any good bills in the static Senate, and change a skewed court system.

Biden is only a 2 year pause before the sledge hammer comes down to erupt a perfect storm of money, mayhem, and lies. And the country we knew, dies. We could not implement any countermeasures. I personally don't see anything left to stop the tsunami.

Stopgap- yes! Why did he fire Mark Esper now? This was the guy who refused to send in the troops agaist protesters. Will Trump replace him with someone who will? Also consider that Ron DeSantis is trying to expand the "Stand Your Ground" law" in Florida to make it okay for you to run your car into protesters on the street (if you say you did not mean to, oopsie...) and shoot somebody if you think they are looting, among other things. What is he gearing up for? Right now Trump's loyal voters are pacified by the hope of the courts ruling in Trump's favor. When the courts say Biden won, the most loyal of his voters will go crazy. They will stir up trouble in democratic voting areas and Trump will declare a state of emergency and "have to" remain president. It won't matter who started the fight.

  • What Does a Biden Presidency Mean to America?   3 years 46 weeks ago

    Alis,

I am, along with a few of my activist friends, going to attempt to create and guide a two part bill through Congress that will require that the President, as well as the members of Congress and the Supreme Court pass a Security Clearance. The second part is to also require that they all pass Dr. Hare's test for psychopathy. We are currently on hold until we see wheather or not the Senate will be controlled by Moscow Mitch, or not.
If you, or anyone else, would care to help us develop our movement for such a bill, please send me an email.
