Breaking News on the RNC's Election Fraud Scandal

The Republican National Committee has been caught red-handed trying to sabotage the Democratic vote around the nation ahead of this year's election. As Brad Friedman at BradBlog.com reported, the Florida Republican Party cut ties with a political firm known as Strategic Allied Consulting after it was discovered that firm changed addresses on numerous voter registration forms to block newly-registered Democrats from voting in November. The scandal is now spreading, as at least ten counties in Florida have discovered these fraudulent registration forms. And law enforcement authorities are getting involved in the matter. And the National Republican Committee has also cut ties with the firm, which it gave $3.1 million to register voters in wing states like Nevada, Colorado, North Carolina, and Virginia. It's unclear how much damage this election fraud may have on the elections in those states. Joining Thom Hartmann to break some new information in this scandal is Greg Palast - investigative journalist with the BBC and the Guardian - and author of the book: "Billionaires & Ballot Bandits: How to Steal an Election in 9 Easy Steps."

How will the GOP Sabotage Obama's 2nd term?

If Barack Obama wins a second term in November - then he should expect the same thing he received from Republicans in his first-term: a barrage of attempts to de-legitimize his presidency. Already, Fox so-called News personality and prominent Republican voice Mike Huckabee has laid out the strategy - suggesting on GOP TV that Republicans should try to impeach President Obama over the attacks on our consulate in Benghazi, Libya. I guarantee you, Republicans in Congress are already planning this. So, be ready - because another four years of President Obama will mean another four years of obstruction, sabotage, and slander. Unless We The People out this Republican strategy to harm our nation, and stand up and say, "Enough!"

Why isn't CNN's Anderson Cooper an enemy of the state?

Yesterday - Julian Assange addressed the United Nations - and discussed the United States' continuing investigation of Wikileaks and Bradley Manning. But what's the real lesson on journalism in the 21st century that needs to be taken away from the Assange case. Since June - Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London trying to avoid extradition to Sweden - and eventually the United States where he could meet the same fate as Bradley Manning or worse. His crime? Being a journalist. There's one industry specifically mentioned in the Constitution - just one. And it's the press - it's journalism. It's the tool "we the people" have to keep our government in check - and to make sure "we the people" have all the information we need to be informed members of our democracy. The press is absolutely essential - which is why it's named and protected in the very first amendment in our Bill of Rights. And journalism has taken many different forms over the centuries - adapting to technological changes in our society. From the quill pen to the printing press to radio to television to now the Internet - journalism has utilized all of these methods to do its job and speak truth to power. But it's that last method - the Internet - that really frightens power. And it's that last method - the Internet - in which Wikileaks exclusively operates. The reach and speed by which information can be distributed now - thanks to the Internet - is unprecedented ...

Richard Wolff - Spain & Greece - Is This What Collapse Looks Like?

Richard Wolff, Economist & visiting professor in the Graduate Program for International Affairs- New School University, joins Thom Hartmann. workers in Greece went on strike Wednesday to protest another round of spending cuts under consideration by the Greek government. Public employees, teachers, medics, lawyers, and even banksters walked off their jobs and took to the streets to protest salary and pension cuts. It's the first such strike since the new Conservative government took power in June. Yet the Greek government today unveiled it's new austerity budget pledging to cut $11.5 billion over the next several years. So what will this latest round of cuts due to a nation that is already collapsing under the banksters demands?

The Good, The Bad and the Very Very Ranivorously Ugly

The Good! *Bronx, NY District Attorney's Office* The Bronx DA's office has stopped all prosecutions of people who were arrested at public housing projects for trespassing - until more information can be gathered. Why is this a good thing? Because the majority of those arrested were arrested as a result of New York City's controversial Stop-and-Frisk tactics. Nearly 15 percent of all stop-and-frisk arrests between 2003 and 2011 occured at public housing complexes - where police arrested anyone who they thought did not live at the complexes and was not a guest. Kudos to the Bronx DA's office for standing up to the NYPD - and their abuse of power -------------- The Bad! *Wilcoxson's Ice Cream* Wilcoxson's - a local ice cream shop in Livingston, Wyoming - refused to sell their ice cream to a Muslim customer. Earlier this week - a Muslim customer in nearby Sheridan, Wyoming - posted on Wilcoxson's Facebook page - asking what flavors of ice cream did not have gelatin in them - since they could not eat pork. Shortly after - Wilcoxsin's replied to the post - saying "we don't deliver outside of Montana, certainly not Pakistan." Wilcoxson's ignorance - thinking that all Muslims are from Pakistan - is bad enough. But denying someone who would have been a faithful customer a product just because of their religion? That's just absurd ------------------ and the Very Very Ugly! *Texas State Rep. Jim Murphy (R)* Murphy is the latest Conservative nationwide to push for more agressive ...

David Marty Calls in from Spain on the Rage Against Austerity

David Marty, Organization for a Participatory Society-Madrid Chapter & co-author of the forthcoming "Occupy Strategy" joins Thom Hartmann. Madrid looked like a warzone on Monday - as protestors took to the streets to say no to Spain's continued austerity economic policies. But the Spanish government went ahead - and passed their new austerity budge anyway. What the heck is going on in Europe?

The GOP is turning in fraudulent voter registration forms...

Brad Friedman, The Brad Blog, joins Thom Hartmann. Florida Governor Rick Scott has restarted his illegal voter purge in the sunshine states. Scott's listed of voters to be targeted as non-citizens and kicked off the rolls has been shown to be riddled with errors and overwhelmingly focused on minority voters who tend to vote for Democrats. But Governor Scott is pushing forward regardless. But this isn't the only way Republicans are trying to steal the election in Florida. News broke yesterday on the BradBlog - that the Florida Republican Party's top recipient of funding - a firm named Strategic Allied Consulting - has been in the business of turning in fraudulent voter registration forms. The Florida Republican Party has now cut ties with Strategic Allied Consulting - but not before dishing out more than $1.3 million in contracts to the firm this year. Also - this firm continues to be operating in the battle ground states around the nation - and also has affiliations with the Mitt Romney campaign.

Mike Papantonio on Romney Harvesting America's Middle Class

Mike Papantonio, Ring of Fire Radio joins Thom Hartmann. Farmers harvest fall crops to feed us. Doctors harvest organs to save us. And then there's Mitt Romney - who harvests economies to pad his big fat wallet - and screw us all over. Is America really willing to let this guy become Harvester-in-Chief of the United States?
