How has the coronavirus affected you and your family, and what are you doing to stay well?
Social distancing is the hot new phrase. The CDC and health associations around the world are encouraging people to avoid crowds and big social events. One of our kids and her husband had a summer vacation booked to Europe, and both have now been told by their employers that if they take the trip they must self-quarantine for two weeks before they will be allowed to return to work. Louise and I have stopped going to restaurants until there are enough test kits and enough testing has been done to determine what the level of risk is here in Portland. Our local newspaper reported this morning that Oregon will be out of test kits today, after having only tested about about 150 people, because the federal government is limiting the test kits being sent to the states. But even with that limited number, there are hundreds of people here who the state Health department or local medical authorities have requested be isolated or self-quarantine because they're showing symptoms of the virus but can't be tested because of the lack of kits, and the Oregon state government has declared a state of emergency.
