We Must Never Allow Another President To Exploit a National Tragedy For Political and Financial Gain...
 On this day 18 years ago an obscure fundamentalist with about 5000 followers attacked the United States. George W. Bush used the attack to lie the United States into a war in Iraq to make Halliburton rich and give him the political capital to get reelected in 2004. In the process, he elevated the status of that terrorist to near-mythic levels and thus kicked off the rise of both Al-Qaeda and Isis. Bush and Cheney also directed the CIA and our military to commit numerous war crimes and torture, and built an illegal prison in Cuba, all violating both international law and the fundamental precepts of a democratic republic, devastating America's image around the world and weakening our moral standing among democratic nations. We must never again allow an American president to exploit a national tragedy or terrorist incident for political purposes and the profits of his vice president and campaign donors. -Thom |
