Attorney General Jeff Sessions has recused himself from any investigation into alleged Russian interference in the presidential election.
He announced the move at a press conference yesterday, less than 24 hours after the Washington Post reported that he had met with the Russian ambassador to the US not once, but twice, in the past year.
"I have now decided to recuse myself from any existing or future investigations of any matter relating in any way to the campaigns for president of the United States."
Sessions went on to deny any wrongdoing in regards to his meeting with the Russian ambassador, and said that those meetings were entirely within his capacity as a US Senator - not as a Trump campaign surrogate.
But even so - Democrats on Capitol Hill are still calling for his resignation.
