A new poll by Pew Research indicates firearm homocides decreased markedly between 1993 and 2011. This runs against my preconceptions. I wonder what's up with that? I consider Pew one of our more reliable sources. The "more guns is better" crowd will no doubt pick this finding up to support their position.

For the folk all up in arms about Christoterrorism:

About anti-abortion terrorist attacks, Wikipedia has a good list under search term Anti-abortion_violence. Strangely, all of it seems to come out of Talabangelical Rapturian types.

Additionally, the KKK and the Concerned Citizens are Christian and quite unSmurfy.

The Assault Weapons Ban was in effect from 1994 to 2004.

In 2006, NRA lobbying and GWB43 resulted in Gun Manufacturer immunity and cop-killer bullets being made lawful.

2008 . . . and 2012 . . . Golly, what happened then.

"Thom Hartmann seeks out interesting subjects from such disparate outposts of curiosity that you have to wonder whether or not he uncovered them or they selected him."
Leonardo DiCaprio, actor, producer, and environmental activist
From Cracking the Code:
"No one communicates more thoughtfully or effectively on the radio airwaves than Thom Hartmann. He gets inside the arguments and helps people to think them through—to understand how to respond when they’re talking about public issues with coworkers, neighbors, and friends. This book explores some of the key perspectives behind his approach, teaching us not just how to find the facts, but to talk about what they mean in a way that people will hear."
Paul Loeb, author of Soul of a Citizen
From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Never one to shy away from the truth, Thom Hartmann’s collected works are inspiring, wise, and compelling. His work lights the way to a better America."
