But South Sudan is also emerging from three decades of brutal civil war - and therefore faces challenges that many new nation states don't have to worry about. For example - it's estimated that as a result of the extreme violence of the past 30 years almost 35 percent of the population of South Sudan has Post-Traumatic Stress Disoder - or PTSD. This comes on top of existing mentall illnesses, and is compounded by the fact South Sudan has just one practicing psychiatrist - 5 psychologists - and 24 mental health trainees. So how IS South Sudan working to deal with its mental health problems?
