Dr. A.J. Angulo, Diploma Mills: How For-Profit Colleges Stiffed Students, Taxpayers, and the American Dream, joins Thom. Another day, another for-profit college in trouble with the law. On Monday - Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey filed a lawsuit against ITT Educational Services - the company behind ITT Tech. The Commonwealth's case against ITT involves how it apparently mislead many of its students about the job prospects awaiting them once they graduated from its program. As Attorney General Healey said in a statement - “These students were exploited and pressured to enroll with the promise of great careers and high salaries, but were instead left unable to repay their loans and support their families.” This is just the latest in a long line of high-profile cases against the for-profit education industry. Which raises the question - is this just an issue of a few bad apples or is the for-profit college industry as a whole the problem?
