We head to San Francisco - where on Friday - a coalition of food safety activists and environmental groups filed a lawsuit against the Food and Drug Administration - the FDA. The lawsuit concerns the FDA's recent approval of genetically-engineered salmon - or as some have dubbed it - “frankenfish. The frankenfish contains the DNA of three different species of fish - the Arctic ocean eelpout, the Pacific king salmon, and the Atlantic salmon - and it is the first genetically engineered animal OK'ed for commercial purposes anywhere in the world. Supporters say the frankenfish is a bold step forward for science and conservation. Experts - however - aren't so sure - and they have serious concerns with its approval for sale and consumption.

The controversial Texas anti-women's health law HB2 forced a woman to deliver a baby that had zero chance of survival. 20 weeks into this pregnancy the baby began to arrive prematurely - and the woman rushed to the doctor because she had had a previous miscarriage. The doctors told her that the baby had no chance of survival - but under Texas law it was considered "still alive" - so the parents were sent home to wait for 4 days until the dead fetus was delivered in the hospital. Is this humane to either the baby or the mother - or the father - to force this woman to carry this baby to birth - even though there was zero chance of survival? Is the state responsible for any trauma that this woman endured as a result?
