Paul Ryan introduced his new "anti-poverty" program today - and while it has a fancy new title ("A Better Way") - it's more or less the same austerity plan Republicans like him put forward when they say they're trying to fight poverty. It would cut Social Security - impose onerous new work requirements on a number of different welfare programs - slash funding for Head Start - and even do away with a new law that requires financial advisors to act in their clients best interest. Who’s Paul Ryan kidding? When are Republicans going to admit that the best anti-poverty plan is a strong labor movement coupled with a protectionist trade policy, high taxes on the rich and a regulated financial industry?
